As East Mountain Asia, we exist to develop healthy and equipped Christian leaders for global missional service.
We long to see leaders, transformed by the gospel and living in authentic community, who inspire churches and organizations to join God in His mission throughout Thailand.
The culture of our team is first and foremost to abide in Christ. We are dedicated to loving our neighbors, engaging our stories and living life in community.
Central ministry focuses
Our central ministry focuses are partnering for the Kingdom, launching Kingdom initiatives and equipping, training & discipling leaders.
It all started when…
The story of our work in Thailand started over 28 years ago. A team of recent college graduates from the United States came to Thailand to evangelize and disciple college students. After 12 years of campus focus, God raised up Thai leaders who desired to plant a church near the campus. The team shifted their focus from campus ministry to church planting.
Over the next 15 years, the team continued to invest in discipling and equipping leaders on the campus. They also began to partner with other churches within Bangkok and throughout Thailand to help train Thai leaders to disciple others. As the team grew, they began to explore ministry in other areas such as community development, business as mission, church planting, and trafficking. While there have been significant efforts by individuals on the team in these new ministries, there has not been sustained focus or impact.
In 2015, the need emerged to reimagine how missional leaders are equipped and ministry teams formed. Key leaders began to explore new models for ministry in other contexts. This began relationships with the original East Mountain ministry site in Stellenbosch, South Africa. In 2018, Bangkok, Thailand officially became a new launch site for the East Mountain community.
